Roy “Kid” Bevis, born in 1877, was minor league pitcher for several Kansas teams.  

He played for the Kansas City Blues in 1896 and 1897, when he was released and signed with Minneapolis of the American Association. In 1898, he pitched for Burlington of the Three I League.

In 1903, he played for the Class D Fort Scott Giants of the Missouri Valley League.  In 1904, the Class C Topeka Saints of the same league.  And in 1904, he was with the Class C Wichita Jobbers of the Western Association.

After retiring from baseball, Bevis settled in Winfield. In 1910 and 1920 he lived in Wichita and was working as a wholesale grocery salesman.  He died in 1956 at the age of 78 and is buried in Winfield.
