Elliot, from Cunningham, played in his first NBC World Series at age 16. He appeared in 17 tournaments as a catcher or manager or both for nine teams.
Elliot played at Seward County, then at Wichita State from 1984-86. He was the selected as Shockers Most Valuable Player in 1986 and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Elliot played four seasons in the Cardinals’ organization, including one season at AA Arkansas in 1990. He returned to Wichita and was the color analyst on WSU radio broadcasts for 13 sesons.
Elliot last appeared in the 2006 NBC tournament at a 41-year-old playing for Newton. His sons, Cooper, played at Wichita State and, Easton, played at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
