Hall of Fame Class of 2005

The most prolific power hitter in Wichita State baseball history, Mark Standiford has held Shocker home run records for more than 30 years.

An All-American in 1988, Standiford was a key figure in the Shockers return to the College World Series. He batted .374, hit 28 home runs and drove in 97 runs. The Shockers avenged two earlier losses to Oklahoma State by beating the No. 1-ranked Cowboys twice to win the regional tournament.

His 28 home runs in 1988 and career 69 home runs remain Shocker records.

Standiford was drafted by San Francisco and played two seasons in the minor leagues.

In 2008, Standiford became head coach at Tabor College in Hillsboro.  During his tenure, the Bluejays have won more than 500 games, captured five KCAC titles and made the NAIA World Series field in 2014 and 2015.   More than 100 players have been named all-KCAC, including 2016 NAIA Player of the Year Manny DeLeon.  Fourteen players have gone on to play professionally.

Standiford has also operated Wichita Sluggers, a baseball academy and athletic complex in Wichita.
