Roy Bentley’s career turned from the infield to the pitching mound when Wichita Jobbers manager Jack Holland saw potential in his arm.  Bentley became a top pitcher for the 1908 Jobbers, then won 18 and 19 the next two seasons for the Enid Railroaders, also in the Western Association.

Bentley won more than a hundred minor league games with a stop in 1918 in Hutchinson to pitch for the Salt Packers.

Bentley owned a farm in Saffordville, where he died in 1922.
