Berger broke into the majors in 1913 and played two seasons as an infielder with the Chicago White Sox. He played in 127 games but hit only .191.
Afer retiring as a player, Berger came to Wichita and spent six seasons as manager of the Wichita Witches and Izzies from 1917 to 1922. He guided the Wichita teams to titles in the Western League in 1918 and 1921.
Berger died in 1956 in Rock Island, Ill.
