Addison Brennan was born in LaHarpe in 1887. In 1909, he pitched for the Wichita Jobbers, winning 18 games.
After that season, the Cincinnati Reds purchased his contract and subsequently traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies. Brennan made his debut with the Phillies in 1910. He won 11 games in 1912 and was 14-12 with a 2.39 earned run average in 1913.
While with the Phillies, Brennan has a confrontation with New York Giants manager John McGraw. It was reported that McGraw yelled insults at Brennan while he was pitching. After the game, Brennan punched McGraw twice. Both were fined and suspended for five days.
In 1914, Brennan switched to the Federal League, pitching for the Chicago Chi-Feds and the Chicago Whales in 1915. He returned to the major leagues and pitched briefly with Washington and Cleveland in 1918. Brennan won 37 games in his seven years of major league service.
Brennan died in Kanas City in 1962 at the age of 74.
