John Froome was a native of Ohio who was educated at Northwestern University and came to Wichita to be a broadcaster in 1950.
Froome’s first job in Wichita was with radio station KANS as program director. For several years he did color commentary on games of the National Baseball Congress tournament.
In 1955 he was hired by KAKE-TV where he did many jobs, including weather and sports. He also created several of KAKE’s popular local shows such as “Party Line” and “Show for Dough.”
Froome died in Wichita in 1977 at the age of 50.
