Since 1976, Mike Kennedy has been the radio voice of Wichita State athletics.

A native of Wichita, Kennedy began his career in 1970 as a student announcer for Wichita State’s public radio station KMUW.  After graduation, he worked at KKOY-AM in Chanute and KOAM-AM in Pittsburg before returning to Wichita to broadcast games for the AAA Wichita Aeros.  

At that time, he also began calling games for the Shockers and became their full-time voice in 1980.  At one point, Kennedy called 1,319 consecutive WSU basketball games.  He has been honored multiple times as Kansas Sportscaster of the Year by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and was inducted into the KAB Hall of Fame in 2005.
