Al Kuni / Kunigonis was born in Pennsylvania but settled in Wichita after serving in the Army in World War II. 

He played one year in the West Texas-New Mexico League at Pampa, Texas, and at Clovis, New Mexico.

In 1949 he returned to Kansas and played on Cessna’s NBC State tournament champions and was named all-state at third base. In 1950 he played for the Boeing Bombers and in 1951 for the Roscan Brothers team in the Victory League. 

Kunigonis umpired baseball for six years and officiated football for several years after his playing days.  He died in Wichita in 2012 at the age of 96.
