McMullan moved to Wichita in 1902 and served on the editorial staff of the Wichita Eagle as a reporter, city editor and sports editor.
In 1906 he went to Kingman, as editor of the Kingman Journal. He returned to Wichita as a baseball writer and sports editor.
In 1911 he became secretary of Wichita’s team in the Western League. He served with the club until 1914. He later joined the Internal Revenue Service where he became an executive.
McMullan died in 1960 at the age of 84.
