Born in Norton, Bob Randall graduated from Gove High School and played middle infield at Kansas State University.
He was drafted three times by the Los Angeles Dodgers, finally signing as a second round choice in 1969. Randall spent the next five years in the Dodger organization before being traded to Minnesota.
Twins manager Gene Mauch moved future Hall of Famer Rod Carew to first base to open second base for Randall. Randall would play five seasons with the Twins, hitting a career .257.
Following his major league career, won 309 games as head coach at Iowa State from 1985-95. He left Iowa State for the University of Kansas, where he coached until 2002, winning 166 games.
Randall is an assistant baseball coach and a professor of economics at Manhattan Christian (KS) College.
