Nate Robertson
Hall of Fame Class of 2015

Nate Robertson was drafted out of Maize High School but elected to pitch at Wichita State.  He quickly made an impact on the Shocker program and was a Freshman All-American.

Following his freshman season, however, Robertson hurt his left elbow and required “Tommy John” surgery.  He recovered and was 8-0 as junior in 1999 and was selected by Florida in the fifth round of the MLB draft.

Robertson made his major league debut with the Marlins in 2002.  He was traded to Detroit following the season and would have his greatest success with the Tigers, winning twelve games in 2004 and thirteen in 2006.

Robertson defeated Oakland in the 2006 American League Championship Series opener and took the loss in game three of the World Series, despite giving up only two St. Louis runs.

Robertson finished his career with stops in Florida and Philadelphia.  He won 57 games over nine major league seasons.

Robertson returned to Wichita and was part-owner of the Wichita Wingnuts of the independent American Association.
