Paul Savage
Hall of Fame Class of 2009
Known for his passion for sports, Paul Savage has been the driving force behind the growth of the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame.
In 2004, Savage started the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame and museum, displaying memorabilia that he personally collected. The museum was housed in the Museum of World Treasures in downtown Wichita.
In 2007, the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame teamed with Savage to create a display of pictures and autographed baseballs. This was the first physical exhibit for the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, which has elected members since 1939.
In 2008, Savage moved the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame to a larger, stand-alone location in Wichita. The Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame had a prominent exhibit, including jerseys, bats, and other memorabilia. The National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame, Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame and Wichita Bowling Hall of Fame were also housed in the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
The website www.modernerabaseball.com named the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame/Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame one of the “Top 10 U.S. Baseball Museums Outside Cooperstown.”
Savage played football at Hutchinson Community College and Baylor University. He served as an assistant football coach at Wichita East High School and for the Wichita Wild, a professional indoor team.
Savage has been a host of various sports talk radio shows in Wichita and is an actor in local plays.
