Glen Thomas was born in 1889 in Waterville and came to Wichita in 1916 after completing his degree in architecture at the University of Illinois. He served in World War I.
Thomas played infield on Wichita’s team in the Western League. He played semi-pro ball in Wichita for a number of years.
He was the senior partner Thomas, Harris & Calvin Architects. Thomas’s most notable project was Wichita North High School, a beautiful art deco design that opened in 1929.
He also designed the West High School and high schools in Coffeyville, Fort Scott, Pratt, Jetmore, Otis and Manter.
In Wichita, he also designed the new Sedgwick County Courthouse, Mid-Continent Airport, fifteen churches and other buildings.
Thomas died in 1962 at the age of 73.
