Mike Warren
Hall of Fame Class of 2015

Born in El Dorado, Mike Warren made his first impact on Kansas baseball after his family moved to Winfield, where his father started the Winfield High School baseball program in 1971.  A year later, the Warrens led the Vikings to the class 5-4-3A championship.

Warren went on to Emporia State, where he helped the Hornets to a third place finish at the NAIA World Series as a junior.  In both his junior and senior seasons, Warren was a second-team All-American as a second baseman.

His coaching career began with stints at Pratt and Dodge City community colleges.  Warren moved to Barton in 1984.  He would coach the Cougars to 904 wins over the next thirty seasons, finishing with a career total of 1001 wins.

Under Warren, Barton won five division championships.  He was named Jayhawk Western Conference coach of the year four times.  Four of Warren’s players made the major leagues.  Nearly fifty former players have become coaches.

Warren was instrumental in getting a new baseball facility built at Barton.  He also led the formation of the Jayhawk Conference Baseball Coaches Association and developed the annual Region VI East/West All-Star game.
